Workshops are a good way to share work between project collaborators – knowing what each of person knows and does extends the toolkit of a single person.
The MEDALLION co-innovation consortium met again to brainstorm ways to enrich virtual and augmented reality experiences. Our group consisted of over ten professionals from the University of Tampere and Turku University of Applied Sciences, plus experts from Optofidelity.
This time, the MEDALLION workshop focused on eye tracking. Eye or gaze tracking can be used in many ways to improve the end application’s user experience (UX).
The workshop teams identified several medical applications that could benefit from eye-tracking technology. The application ideas ranged from medical imaging segmentation to panoramic dental dictation. In addition to the improved user experience, the benefits identified included reducing user errors.
Here is what our host, Kimmo Jokinen from Optofidelity had to say:

It is important that information moves to all directions within the consortium. At Optofidelity, we work with the major clients developing smart devices. We find it very valuable to share our knowledge with the scientific community.
