The third MEDALLION workshop, hosted by Optofidelity was held 17th of December 2025. This time, the workshop focused on Six Degrees of Freedom (6DOF) and Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM). After introductions, the main topics were connected to themes from previous workshops, which were eye tracking and haptics.

MEDALLION workshop team brainstormed various use cases, where certain XR related technologies could bring significant add value for applications like surgical planning, training and simulation. For example, training efficiency and planning accuracy could be enhanced, along with reducing probability of errors.

The goal of the workshop was to ideate how all of these themes could be utilised in XR medical systems. Here is what our workshop host, Optofidelity’s CTO had to say about the event: “MEDALLION workshop team brainstormed various use cases, where certain XR related technologies could bring significant add value for applications like surgical planning, training and simulation.
